The following collection of videos was recorded during a journey across the United States as Mary and Gary traveled from state to state visiting veteran cemeteries and gathering small samples of sacred soil. This mission supports both the Patriot Soil Project and the Patriot Soil Flag—initiatives dedicated to preserving and honoring the service, sacrifice, and legacy of America’s veterans.

At each cemetery visited, a small sample of soil is respectfully collected as a symbolic tribute to the men and women laid to rest there. Though small in size, each sample carries profound meaning. It represents not only the ground from which it was taken, but also the lives, courage, and dedication of those who defended our nation and the freedoms we cherish.

A central part of this journey is the Salute of Honor. At every veteran cemetery visited in every state, the Salute of Honor is presented as a solemn tribute to all who have served. The ceremony is often performed while overlooking the entire cemetery—standing above the rows of headstones that stretch across the landscape, each one marking a life of service. From that vantage point, the salute is offered not to one individual alone, but to every veteran resting within those sacred grounds.

To date, more than one million soldiers and service members have been honored through these ceremonies. While a single salute is performed at each cemetery, it is given in recognition of every veteran laid to rest there—acknowledging their courage, their sacrifice, and their commitment to serve something greater than themselves.

Some of the videos included in this collection were captured by network television coverage that documented portions of the journey and the ceremonies taking place at cemeteries across the country. These broadcasts helped share the story of the project with a wider national audience, highlighting the purpose and significance of honoring America’s veterans in this unique and meaningful way.

Along the journey, many deeply personal moments also unfold. At cemeteries across the country, Mary and Gary often meet families who have come to visit the graves of loved ones who served. These families stand at the gravesites of fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and grandparents—honoring their memory and paying their respects.

In these moments, a private Salute of Honor ceremony is sometimes presented specifically for that veteran. Standing beside the grave of a loved one, the ceremony becomes a deeply meaningful tribute not only to the individual who served, but also to the family who carries their legacy forward. These private presentations are moments of gratitude, reflection, and respect shared with those whose lives have been shaped by service and sacrifice.

Together, these cemeteries represent the full history of American service. Veterans from every conflict in America’s history are laid to rest within these sacred grounds—from the earliest struggles for independence to the modern defense of freedom. Among them are many of America’s most notable heroes, individuals whose courage and sacrifice helped shape the nation we know today.

Each visit, each salute, and each small sample of soil becomes part of a larger national tribute. Through the Patriot Soil Project and the Patriot Soil Flag, the memory of America’s veterans is brought together—symbolically uniting the soil of the nation with the stories of those who defended it.

This journey across America is more than travel—it is a mission of remembrance. It honors the generations who served before us and ensures their legacy will continue to inspire respect, gratitude, and patriotism for generations to come.
